People Loving Nashville...on the streets of Nashville every Monday night for over 17 years

Author: Ryan Lampa, Founder and CEO of People Loving Nashville

In a city growing as fast as Nashville, it is easy to get lost in the skyline of cranes and new developments. But if you look closer at the street corners, under the bridges, and in the quiet corners of our neighborhoods, you will find the heart of why we do what we do. At People Loving Nashville, our mission isn't just about providing a meal. It is about restoring the dignity that every person in this city deserves. A major fuel to the passion we have for this work is when our community decides to leverage its time, talent, and treasure to serve those who are normally forgotten and discarded.

At PLN, our work is built on four very specific pillars. We don’t just show up once and leave. We have been on the streets every Monday night for over 17 years. First, we focus on relief by meeting immediate needs. Whether it is over fifty thousand hot meals a year, clean clothing from our mobile trucks, or emergency survival gear, we provide the stabilization needed for someone to simply catch their breath.

From there, community is built. This is the heart of our name. Imagine a safe, consistent environment where our unhoused friends aren’t treated like clients but as neighbors. We build friendships that celebrate housing victories and grieve the hard losses together. We also prioritize connection through our outreach specialists who act as bridge builders. They help navigate the complex web of IDs, birth certificates, and healthcare, connecting the vulnerable to the actual solutions they need to move forward. Finally, we focus on restoration. Through programs like Homefullness and our social enterprise, Paradeisos Coffee Company, we walk with people as they transition off the streets. We focus on healing the mind, body, and soul through employment, therapy, and life skills training.

When we talk about building a stronger Nashville, we aren’t talking about the height of the buildings. We are talking about the strength of our safety net. We cannot do this work in a vacuum. It takes a village, or in this case, a city of businesses, churches, and individuals that care.

"Nashville's true spirit isn't found in a bottle. It is found in the way we take care of our own." - Founder and CEO, People Loving Nashville

Our partnership with Whiskey House Nashville is a perfect example of this. If you spend any time looking into what they do, you will see they are home to the largest collection of open whiskey bottles in the entire country. But here is the kicker: they aren't a bar. They are a nonprofit powerhouse, led by co-founder John "JB" Brittle, with a mission to leverage their incredible collection to raise funds for other local nonprofit organizations.

When a local community like Whiskey House steps up, they aren’t just donating. They are using their unique flavor to amplify our mission. By offering exclusive tasting experiences as auction items for events like Smoke on the Water, they help us turn a shared love for Nashville’s culture into tangible resources like meals for the hungry, beds for the tired, and hope for the hopeless. When Nashville businesses and nonprofits link arms, the impact is exponential. Local partners understand the nuances of our streets because they see the same neighbors we do. When a business invests in PLN, they are investing in the health of the very city that allows them to thrive.

A stronger Nashville is one where the unhoused are seen not as an eyesore, but as people with stories, dreams, and potential. It is a place where resources are shared and where a world-class whiskey collection becomes a tool for social change. We believe that no one in Music City should ever have to stand alone. Whether it is through a business partnership, volunteering on a Monday night, or attending one of our benefit events, there is a seat at the table for you. Partnering with local legends like the Whiskey House reminds us that Nashville's true spirit isn't found in a bottle. It is found in the way we take care of our own. Let’s keep building a city where everyone has a place to call home, a community that loves them, and the freedom to dream again.
